The best quality pieces use full grain leather where the surface hasn t been sanded or buffed. To nourish old and dry aniline treat the leather with colourlock aniline protector. The drawbacks of aniline leather are that it marks easily readily absorbs liquids and the dye can fade over time. However with regular care even with any marks aniline leather furniture will last a very long time and even get better with age.

So in order to clean the leather effectively you must use a tampico brush to clean into the leather fibres and loosen the dirt. It is naturally porous so that liquids on its surface will be absorbed and the leather will be darkened as a consequence. The best protection for aniline leather is to handle it with utmost care. Keeping the leather moisturized prevents drying.

Instead we ll turn the cleaner into a foam to make it clean easier. Colourlock aniline cream is an intensive protection for all fine pore matt and stain sensitive smooth leather. Aniline leather is warm and soft but sensitive to marking. If your aniline leather is brand new and doesn t need to be cleaned make sure you apply the leather protection cream first.

Aniline leather is top grain leather and its colour runs all the way through. The colourlock aniline protector contains oils and uv protection to preserve the leather. Clean the leather with an aniline cleaning product regularly to remove body oils and dirt from the surface. Aniline is commonly brown in colour and the way it is dyed makes it appear more patch and rustic rather than a flat colour.

How to care for aniline leather. Caring for aniline leather requires more effort than other types of leather. The photo above shows what happens when it gets wet. Using a sponge or cloth will not be as effective as you would only been cleaning the dirt off the surface not from within.

As the water soaks in the leather goes very dark. To prevent staining and slow down fading apply a protective leather product.

Also because aniline is unprotected it means all the dirt and grime gets into the leather rather than just sitting on the surface. The leather would just soak it up preventing it from working. Some semi aniline leathers also have a light topcoat applied to provide additional protection. Semi aniline leather is similar to aniline leather but it is usually made from lesser quality hides.

Single coloured older slightly faded and lightly scratched aniline leather can be refreshed. Aniline leather has no protective finish and because of the way it is made and dyed makes this very hard to clean and maintain. Similar to aniline leather semi aniline leather is top quality leather.
